How a QR code on a windshield solved the parking problem
It all started with a note "Move your car!!!" on a dirty piece of paper under the wiper. A guy found it in the morning, running late for work. No phone number, no specifics. Just a scream into the void.
He was already used to such messages. The courtyard is old, there aren't enough parking spots for everyone. Sometimes you have to park in a way that makes it hard for someone to get out. Everyone understands this, but nobody knows how to quickly reach the car owner.
The solution came from a neighbor. He works in IT and is always testing some new stuff. One day he showed a small QR code on a sticky base: "Stick it under the windshield. Someone scans it – you get a ping on your phone. No number, no personal data."
The idea seemed doubtful at first. But the sticker cost next to nothing, and sticking it on took a minute. Two days later, the first ping came. He went out, moved the car. The whole process took three minutes instead of the usual thirty with notes and waiting.
After a month, people in the courtyard chat started asking: "Where do you get those codes?" The neighbor shared the link, and gradually stickers appeared on a dozen cars. Notes disappeared. Conflicts became fewer.
The most unexpected thing – the codes started being used for more than just parking. One neighbor stuck a code on a stroller: "If I'm in your way – ping me, I'll come out." Another neighbor put one on the entrance door: "Couriers – ping instead of the intercom."
A simple QR code sticker solved a problem the courtyard had lived with for years. No apps, no registration, no exchanging numbers. Just scan and let them know.
